Christopher J. Riegel, M.D.
Dr. Riegel is a native Texan. He decided to become a physician at age 14. He has long been interested in medicine and hormones. Dr. Riegel is an Honors graduate in Chemistry from Southern Methodist University. Dr. Riegel graduated from The University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio. He pursued his post graduate studies at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and Parkland Memorial Hospital. Due to his interest in hormones, Dr. Riegel was involved in basic science and clinical research for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, outside of his residency responsibilities. A singular accomplishment among his fellow residents. Dr. Riegel won the award for Outstanding Research Presentation at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.
Following his training, in 1992, Dr. Riegel started his solo private practice in OBGYN. He grew his practice from scratch to one of the most prosperous in the state. Over his thirty years of practice, Dr. Riegel delivered between 7000 and 8000 babies and performed many thousands of surgeries. Dr. Riegel is recognized as one of the premier Da Vinci robotic surgeons in the country. Dr. Riegel is also recognized as one of the leading sexual hormone experts in the country.
Early in his career, Dr. Riegel began researching hormonal treatments for female sexual dysfunction, perimenopause and menopause. He attended every conference available on these topics. He received training in female sexual dysfunction and menopause therapies from The Berman Center at Northwestern Medical School. The Berman Center convened the world experts on these topics at conferences, twice yearly. Recognizing that female problems start around the age of thirty five to forty, Dr. Riegel concluded these issues were related to the normal age related decline in hormone levels. Due to his interest in the process of aging, Dr. Riegel began researching therapies for aging with greater health and activity. He trained at The Cenegenics Medical Institute, the world’s foremost center for Age Management Medicine.
Based on his extensive research, Dr. Riegel realized that most of the adult onset diseases are the consequence of a low hormone state. Adult onset diseases like metabolic syndrome, hypertension, high cholesterol, adult onset diabetes, heart disease, atherosclerosis, osteoporosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s Disease and even some forms of cancer are hormone related. Recent research has clearly demonstrated hormone therapy results in a significant reduction in the incidence of these diseases.
As Dr. Riegel states “When sexual hormones are low, that’s the body’s signal that you are on your way out. High hormones result in feeling like a teenager. Low hormones result in feeling like a nursing home resident. The more hormones you have the more vital you are.” In studying patient response to hormones and hormone levels, Dr. Riegel was not satisfied with the hormone levels obtained from pharmaceutically available therapies. Dr. Riegel researched patient response to his exclusive bio-identical combination hormone therapies. His intent was to return the hormonal state to those in your twenties. Through his clinical research, Dr. Riegel developed formulas to accomplish just that. Dr. Riegel’s patients often tell him “I would never have believed I could feel this good again!” Dr. Riegel’s proprietary therapies have been credited for astounding reversals of conditions, including physical, sexual and psychological. Dr. Riegel continues to develop new formulas.
